Synopsis

As part of the continual  effort of ARCIALA which starts in 2014, this conference, now expanded as a joint event by ARCIALA, Renmin University of China, Jindal Global University of India and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition of Germany,  inquires why certain industries have developed in India (or China) and not in China (or India) or vice versa, the role state innovation policy and/or IP policy plays in such development? The nature of the state innovation policy/IP policy, and whether such policy has been causal, facilitating, crippling, co-relational or simply irrelevant? What India and China can learn from each other, and if there is possibility of synergy or cooperation? In light of the linkage sought to be examined, i.e., between innovation and intellectual property rights in India and China, seven (7) topics have been chosen for the Conference: (1) “IP Policy and Codification and State Innovation”; (2)  “IT Industry”; (3) “Film Industry”; (4) “Pharmaceutical Industry”; (5) “Plant Varieties and Food Security”;  (6) “Automobile Industry”, and (7) “Peer Production and the Sharing Economy.” The width and depth of the study envisaged as part of this Conference extend beyond the domain of legal academics, and therefore economists, business professionals, practitioners, and NGOs are invited to participate in the Conference.

This event is by invitation only.
